Can squid ink be used to write?
I wondered if people could use squid ink extracted from a squid’s ink sac for writing. First, the ink producer, living in a fishing village would collect the ink sacs extracted from gutting squids. He will then return to his workplace carefully carrying the ink sacs. His workplace is a small, dark room lit by a fire and scented with herbs to cut the smell. He would then skillfully extract the ink using hollow needles and boil the ink in a cauldron to cut the smell. After it is cooled, the ink is stored in small glass bottles. He sells the ink to scholars and the government. Use the ink with feather quills and write on thick papyrus.
PS: The setting is in a medieval time. literacy was open to very few. The ink maker himself is barely literate.
Yes, it can be used this way. That sounds like a good idea for a story!
