Seeds or insects – tiny, oval-shaped, with a spine, black dots at each side?
Going to open the south-facing window of our spare room, the weather being so hot just now, I noticed a scattering of what looked, at first, like mouse droppings along the length of the windowsill. I collected them up, they were hard, shell-like. I looked at the largest through a magnifying glass. It appeared to be oval-shaped, with a spine, black dots at each side. I am curious, are these seeds or insects?
Most likely pupa/chrysalis of a flying insect. Collect a few, put in clear container with lid and wait for the hatch.
